Boone Speedway Undergoes some renovations!

Boone Speedway in Boone, Iowa home of the IMCA Supernationals and weekly summer IMCA shows recently underwent some improvements. They brought in over 1000 semi loads of Iowa black dirt from a local construction site. From the pictures i have seen it looks as if they did not change the actual track surface at all but put a lot of dirt out in the campgrounds area to raise up the section near the river/ravine. Where they added the most dirt though is on the outside of the turns of the track, they added a lot of it to the outside part of the banking to make the drop off from the track a lot more gradual and much safer for drivers who slide off the track on the turns. Overall nothing on the actual racing surface changed about the well known track but the improvements will greatly help the drivers and campers at Boone.

NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader will race IMCA 5 times early this year!

NASCAR and just racing in general, great Ken Schrader will be racing at 5 IMCA Frostbuster events this spring.  The tracks and dates are: April 4th at Southern Iowa Speedway, April 5th at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, April 6th at Marshaltown Speedway, April 7th at Boone Speedway and April 8th at Benton County Speedway, all of these tracks are in Iowa. This will be very cool to see and i recommend to anyone that likes IMCA modified racing to go to these shows as Ken Schrader is one of the greats behind the wheel of a Modified.

IMCA Modified "North Star Series" set to kick off this summer!

This summer there will be a new racing series in the Southern Minnesota area amongst five tracks. Those tracks are: Arlington Raceway, Redwood Speedway, Fairmont Raceway, Murray County Speedway and Jackson Speedway. This series will feature two nights throughout the year at each track totaling ten events.  They have set up the series so that your best eight out of ten races count towards your final end of the year series points total. The events will be held on normal race nights at each track for the series, with each series race night having a draw/re-draw format.
This is shaping up to be a very interesting inaugural year in this series, with central and southern Minnesota having some of the best IMCA modified pilots in the country, as well as possibly seeing some of the drivers from Northern Iowa coming up. Looking forward to seeing some of the races in this series this summer!
